Successful Firing!

Has taken rather too long to post but here goes. I fired my kiln in the spring. I hadn’t imagined I would be so worried about the firing. Being in charge was full of uncertainty! The first time I tried firing my new kiln I managed 30 mins before the roof collapsed. After a few alterations I tried again a week later. I preheated it with a lovely little bonfire the night before firing to drive off any damp. Very pleasant. Then I set a kiln clock to record the temperature rise. Within 6 hours I had reached 1280! In hindsight should have soaked it for longer and tried to create more reduction. Nevertheless some good ( and bad) results. I feel I have learned so much and am loving the journey! Hoping to fire again in the autumn with the rest of the wood. 😃
